2 Stage Paint Correction

A two-step paint correction is compounding first which will remove bigger scratches, swirls, and imperfections. Then a second pass around with fine polish will smooth out the paint, revealing higher gloss and no more scratches and swirls!

How Does It Work?

Have you seen those spider-web swirls and plenty of scratches? This is because the clear coat is damaged. Light will go into the scratch/swirl and reflect back at you revealing the visual of the scratch or swirl mark. Essentially what paint correction will do is “shave” off a microscopic layer of clear coat and smooth out the surface. After compounding and removing heavier defects, we follow up with an ultra-fine polish to refine the finish of the paint.

The Process

  1. Deep Clean Exterior

This step is to strip off any dirt, debris, or old waxes on the exterior.

  2. Iron & Tar Removal

This decontamination step will remove iron particles and tar using chemicals.

  3. Clay Bar

Using clay to exfoliate the paint surfaces will remove embedded particles to ensure no leftover contaminants.

  4. Prep

To prepare for the correction we dry off the vehicle, work in the shade if possible, and tape off sensitive areas of the vehicle.

  5. Stage 1: Compound

In this stage, we use cutting discs and compounds to remove heavy scratches and swirls.

  6. Stage 2: Polish

The next step is to polish the paint. We go all over again with an ultra-fine finishing polish to complete this stage.

  7. IPA Wipe Down

In this step, we use an isopropyl alcohol mixture to remove leftover oils and debris from compounding/polishing.

  8. Paint Protection

We offer complimentary paint sealant to protect the work we have done. (You can upgrade to ceramic coating.)

  9. Final Touch

Lastly, we go over and check our work. Final touch-ups like dressing and windows wiped included.

Which Service Do I Need?

Lightly defective vehicles would benefit from ONLY paint polishing. Polishing only removes light swirls and scratches and brings out a mirror-like reflection. Clients that also want to just simply boost the gloss and shine level would benefit.

If a vehicle is heavily covered with scratches, swirl marks, holograms, marring, and other defects a paint correction (2-step correction) would be appropriate. The first step is compounding which removes heavier defects. The second step is to polish the entire vehicle to bring out that shine, depth, and gloss!
